BRIGHT STEP LEARNING — STUDY NOTES Topic: What I already know: Main idea in my own words: Important terms and plain-language meanings: A worked fictional example: A common mistake and why it fails: One question I still need to resolve: RETRIEVAL PRACTICE After studying a short section, put it aside. Explain the main idea without looking. Then check your explanation against the lesson and correct a specific gap. Try to explain why an action fits, not merely remember the wording of an answer. FICTIONAL EXAMPLE Topic: delegation. Main idea: agree a useful output and suitable discretion while keeping restricted decisions with the authorised role. Example: a colleague prepares a room-use plan but does not approve the booking. Common mistake: assuming an assigned task automatically creates every permission. SELF-CHECK QUESTIONS What would change if the input arrived late? Which fact supports this conclusion? What does the example not establish? Who would need to decide a restricted next step? NEXT REVIEW Choose a practical review time and a different example. Record what became easier and what still needs practice. Longer listening is useful only as part of active learning: pause, explain, practise and check. Keep personal notes free of passwords and other people's private records.
